The solid, high-mass MetalCraft M bridge was developed with a focus on ease of play and increased tone transfer. Specially tuned for the Elrick NJS, the bridge offers string loading from the back of the bridge for easier operation, as well as more stable tuning and a focused sound. Another big improvement for tone transfer is the deep individual grooves that hold the saddles firmly, preventing any unwanted movement and allowing string vibrations to be properly transferred to the body. The MetalCraft M4 and M5 now come with a string spacing of 1 9㎜ (0.750”) for the 4-string M4 and 18 ㎜ (0.708”) for the 5-string M5.
A unique feature of the Elrick NJS is that the neck joint is greatly reduced for easier access to the upper register of the fingerboard. And to optimize stability as you play, the neck attaches using six bolts in an asymmetrical pattern.
Hard Maple provides power and stability, as well as contributing a warm, robust, punchy tone with a strong upper midrange. Dense and stiff, but with just the right amount of tactile flexibility, it sensitively responds to your attacking and slapping techniques with plenty of articulation and power.
Elrick basses are equipped with Hipshot® Ultralite machine heads (classic 20:1 tuning ratio) are made of die-cast zinc with aluminum string posts and mounting nuts, resulting in a 30% weight reduction compared to other regular pegs, and with better balance and tuning accuracy.
Zero Fret
The Zero Fret does the job of the bass nut by setting the height of the string above the fretboard when played open. The capo is still used as a guide to set the string spacing before going to the pegs. Since the capo is not responsible for open notes, players can switch to any string gauge without worrying about resizing or replacing the capo and being free of any unwanted friction between the capo and the strings.
Angled Headstock
Backward-sloping angled headstock provides better string tension for longer sustain and even resonance without the use of string guides.
